M07 · Session context: time, events and information

Prepare a scenario using information available at the time and an explicit time zone.

Place the exercise in time

A time without a date and time zone is ambiguous. Record both alongside the period you will practise. When comparing Madrid and New York, verify the conversion for that date: seasonal clock changes do not always coincide.

Distinguish the instrument’s trading hours, the hours of a related market and your chosen practice window. A simulator session may contain only a fragment. Do not assume its first candle marks the beginning of the entire market.

Known and pending information

Official calendars publish scheduled release times for indicators. A scheduled event does not yet provide its result. Separate announced time, published data and subsequent revisions. A missing figure means unknown; it does not mean zero.

Synthetic example: a scenario begins at 09:00 and contains an announcement at 09:15. At 09:05, you may know the announcement exists if the authorised context includes it, but not its future figure. Consulting the completed release before deciding would change the learning assessment.

A short preparation sheet

Record instrument, date, zone, window, available events and missing data. Add the skill you will observe and your response if context is insufficient. Preparation organises information; it does not require forecasting a reaction.

After practice, compare the initial sheet with the facts that emerged. Preserve your initial notes so a later explanation does not erase the uncertainty present when you made the decision.

  • Convert a time between two zones for the exercise’s date.
  • Mark each detail as known, pending or unavailable.
  • Move on when you can explain what you knew at each moment.

Check your understanding

An event’s figure has not yet been released. How do you record it?

ACTIVITY · AT YOUR OWN PACE

Apply the idea before continuing

Write your answer before opening the reasoning. All prices, quantities and outcomes in this activity are hypothetical. Keep your explanation in your own notebook; it is not sent to the server.

The case

In a fictional case, your decision occurs at 09:05 UTC. A release is scheduled for 09:15 UTC. The page you consult afterwards contains the final figure.

Your task

Classify what could have been known at 09:05 and what must be hidden to reconstruct that decision.

Compare my answer with the reasoning

The schedule could have been known if already published. The 09:15 figure and later revisions do not belong to the 09:05 information set. Keep the date, zone and version; if the initial version cannot be recovered, state that limitation.

Evidence you should be able to explain

A timeline separating known, pending and unrecoverable information.

If you cannot justify it, revisit the example and state what is missing. A memorised answer or simulated profit does not replace this explanation.

Check the skill across three cases

Answer with figures or specific choices. Feedback identifies the error and proposes a task. Checking happens in this browser without sending answers to the server. Saving identifiers and outcomes to resume learning is optional in My learning.

Your answers are not saved. Counters and identifiers are only kept locally if you enable saving in My learning.

A correct case only establishes that you solved this case. Repeating it or viewing the solution changes the evidence; it does not establish mastery or readiness to risk real money.

Case 1 / 3

Fictional case: you decide at 09:05 UTC. A figure is scheduled for 09:15, when 100 is released; it is revised to 80 the next day. The schedule was available before 09:05.
